When I was young, I was fortunate to be taken under the wing of my aunty Barbara who was incredibly creative, uniquely stylish and full of life. She was the one who introduced me to Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. When Robin Hood was on tv, she made my cousin and I Maid Marion costumes to dress up for the occasion.
She was a dressmaker, extraordinarily talented with her hands. Later I ended up working with her in fashion. She taught me that everything has beauty. She taught me to look for details, even in the mundane - and for this I am forever grateful. In 2007 she died of a brain tumour.
In my grief I spent months looking at my hands, what were they good for? Barbara was an amazing seamstress, what was I?
In 2008 after 15 years in the fashion industry I purchased a hammer, pliers & some saw blades - I guess the rest is history.
I sincerely hope you enjoy my new website and the pieces that are showcased. I hope to cross paths with at least some of you. As it is not just nature, textiles, travel, family and relationships that inspires me. My inspiration often comes from meeting you, hearing your stories, and creating pieces that fill both our hearts with joy.
These days when I look at my hands they are usually adorned with my beautiful rings and bangles - and I am happy.
