When it’s cold, dreary and wet outside we often fall into comfort mode. We wear dark colours, hide under over-sized coats and before we know it, we find ourselves falling into that winter slump.
An easy way to shake off the grey, and avoid going on a shopping spree, is by adding some life to your look by incorporating colour into your accessories.
A fun way to do this is by investing in/or digging up a few key jewellery pieces that can easily brighten up your look and even, your day.
- Go bright
Bright, creative pieces such as: studs, little rings, or charm bracelets are a great way to add some light into your day! The best thing about these delicate, petite pieces is that you can layer, stack and play around with different textures.
Creating your own bangle, headband or scarf is a great weekend project to start on a cold winter weekend! Go to your local Spotlight, or craft store and source a few charms, materials and stones. You don’t have to be a pro: try searching for a few YouTube tutorials beforehand to give you some guidance and inspiration.
I find that if something posses great sentimental value, I instantly feel better when wearing it. Dig up that one special piece that is embedded with happy memories and nostalgia. If you’re still searching for a meaningful treasure, I would recommend having a look at my personalised collection. My customers love to personalise my pieces with their kids’ names, meaningful dates or inspiring quotes. There is nothing more special than carrying your loved ones with you at all times.
- Channel expression through gemstones
Earlier, I wrote a blog post about gemstones and expression and the different qualities each stone possesses. If you’re unsure of the numerous qualities each stone holds, I suggest you go have a quick read; for those who have read it, think about what you need for the day, find a piece of jewellery with the appropriate stone that channels that emotion!
I love hearing your thoughts and suggestions; make sure to upload photos of your DIY projects online – don’t forget to tag me so I can check out your creative designs! @samanthamosesjewels
